LEADERSHIP IN EDUCATION AS A SOCIO-PEDAGOGICAL DETERMINANT
Abstract
The article analyzes the essence of the definitions of «school leadership», «educational management», «school administration», «teacher’s leadership»; it shows the features of school leadership in terms of British education; it explains the essence of basic problems of the development of school leadership in teachers in modern conditions; it also analyses the methods of school leadership development. On the base of the analysis of scientific sources it identifies the prospective of world heritage employment in the field of school leadership for improvement of the educational system in Ukraine. The article proves that the ideas of school leadership should be implemented at all levels of the educational system (preschool, school, vocational and higher schools).
The aim of the study is to make a comprehensive analysis of the concept of «school leadership», to select properties needed for its development and illustrate the features that impact the education sector reform.
Analysis of scientific sources showed that the main and urgent problems of the development of school leadership in teachers are: the development of professional standards for leaders; making the definition of leadership competencies or standards; creating conditions for appropriate and adequate training and development; the promotion of leadership development; development of the educational network that employs practical training.
Thus, professional activity of leader in education includes: to perform strategic management for the educational organization development; to ensure the complete development of each student; toimplement best practices at national and international levels; making strategic planning to achieve certain goals of the school; working to achieve the strategic objectives; making improvements to the distribution and monitoring of resources in the school; promotion the collaboration at the local, national and international levels.
