FEATURES OF PROACTIVE LEADERSHIP FORMATION

Abstract

The article presents current research analysis of proactivity problems. The proactive behavior criteria and parameters are analyzed.

In the context of social and economic changes and quickly updating social technologies of management the need for understanding the phenomenon of leadership, and in particular of proactive leadership, has increased dramatically. The current management research trends indicate continued interest in the problems of leadership and of employee motivation increase. Theoretical studies in the field of management are supported by new social technologies and practices for effective decision-making in business, management improvement and goal setting.

The aim of the article is to identify the features of the proactive leadership formation on the basis of theoretical and methodological analysis of the phenomenon of leadership and proactivity as the essential feature of a modern manager.

For a manager, the basis for effective work is the presence of qualities such as innovativeness, the ability to organize team work, creativity, subjective activity, and the leadership potential. Thus, leadership is a metaquality, which integrates manager’s subjective, professional, and personal qualities and resources.

Proactivity is considered as a personal quality and a style of behavior. As a style of behavior, proactivity plays an important role in effective overcoming of difficult life situations and creating potential for individual development. Anticipation skills (i.e., prediction, prevention) combined with reflective analysis of one’s own actions are integral components of

proactive behavior.

Proactivity as a pattern of behavior, which is expressed in the form of personal responsibility, helps to overcome obstacles and difficulties, and create new opportunities and healthy relationships between people.

Proactivity is related to the social position, it is one’s ability and desire to take responsibility for their behavior and react to the situation by producing their own attitude to it.

The analysis of the proactive leadership phenomenon has revealed that the sources of motivation of individual proactive behavior, the motivating factors are not external circumstances and approval, but observation of one’s own standards and values that are developed and internalized in daily life.
